Do I need a Power BI license?
A free Power BI account is enough to view a dashboard we share with you. If you want to edit the dashboard yourself or host it independently, a Power BI Pro license ($10/user/month through Microsoft) is required. We will tell you exactly what you need before we start — and help you get it set up if you do not have it yet.
What data formats do you work with?
Excel files (.xlsx), CSV exports, QuickBooks reports, and most structured POS exports. If your file opens in Excel and has columns, we can almost certainly work with it. Send us a sample file when you reach out and we will confirm within one business day.
What if my data is messy?
Most small business data is messy — inconsistent dates, missing rows, column headers that change month to month. Data cleaning is part of the build, not an add-on. We document the issues we find and the decisions we made to fix them, so you understand exactly how the dashboard is calculating.
How does the 10-day timeline work?
The clock starts when we receive your complete data files. Days 1–3 are data mapping and layout planning; days 4–8 are the build; day 9 is your revision round; day 10 is final delivery. If you need a day to send the file back with revision notes, we account for that — it does not eat into your build time.
What does the monthly maintenance plan include?
Each month, you send your updated data files (the same exports you already generate). We refresh the dashboard, check for data anomalies, and flag anything that looks unusual. The maintenance plan covers one data file update cycle per month. Additional updates or new dashboard pages are scoped separately.
I only have data for one year. Is that enough?
One year is enough to build a useful dashboard. Trend lines, year-over-year comparison, and seasonal patterns all require at least 12 months of data to be meaningful. If you have less, we will tell you which visualizations make sense now and which to add once you have more history.
Can you connect my dashboard to live data instead of uploaded files?
Live connectors (direct database connections, API feeds) are available for an additional build fee and require that your data source supports it. We will scope that separately if it applies to your setup. Most small business owners start with file-based dashboards and upgrade once they see the value.
